Group Therapy

A Therapy Group For Trans Men*

Keeping the "men" in menstrual.
Still accepting applicants!
Blood Brothers was created to offer an alternative to "moon circles,"
centering dudes who bleed*, providing a space to discuss what menstrual periods are outside of cultural biases of "womanhood" or "femininity."
First meeting on April 3, 2025
$25/session
This group emerges from over a decade of conversations, research, planning, and listening to innumerable stories of people feeling alienated because of the misalignment to cultural narratives about gender around bleeding.
Thursdays from 5:30 - 7:00pm
for ten weeks, first meeting on
April 3, 2025
in Center City Philadelphia.
The ten week closed group commitment is structured to allow for
connection, accountability, trust building, and containment
while navigating potentially vulnerable topics.
This is a group in which you have the opportunity to build a strong sense of community by
🩸Exchanging resources specific to trans health and care. 🩸
🩸 Sharing personal stories. 🩸
🩸 Finding language that better aligns with your experience than "feminine health." 🩸
🩸 Exploring archetypes, stories, "mythologies," rituals, and other oral histories as a reminder that trans people are ancient and sacred. 🩸
Each cohort is limited to 8 brothers,
There is still space for a couple of more members
in the group beginning on April 3, 2025.
Please apply by April 1, 2025 to be considered for this cohort.

For purposes of protecting and maintaining physical safety and privacy,
the location near City Hall will be disclosed after application to join the group.
*man, trans men, trans masc, brother, dude, etc...
What if I'm not a dude or a man?
If you're a masculine-of-center, gender queer, trans non-binary, gender vague, agender, gender fluid, gender fucked, a trans man, trans masculine, FTM, or otherwise know that women's spaces do not speak to your gender while also having been assigned female at birth, you are invited to join this group.
What if I have had medical interventions, or I don't bleed anymore for other reasons ?
If you have ever had a menstrual cycle and felt isolated in your experiences, know that others likely share in those feelings while also having not found ways to express them,
you're welcome to join us.
Whether you are menopausal, perimenopausal, recently bleeding, currently bleeding, have opted into or out of "gender-affirming" medical interventions, have given birth, or have no interest in participating in the birthing process,
we would love to have you.
If you present in ways that are alignment with your understanding of self, regardless of outside gendered expectations, and/or if you have been perceived as a man for a long time, your presence is valued. If anyone has challenged your transness because of some bias as to what "masculinity" is "supposed" to look like, you're invited.
This group would not be a good fit if you...
🩸 Want to specifically focus on having recently come out, or considering coming out.🩸
🩸 Believe that receiving medical interventions makes someone "more trans."🩸
🩸Cannot maintain confidentiality or privacy.🩸
🩸Are unwilling to discuss power dynamics and social location.🩸
🩸Freeze in response to topics of sex or sexual health.🩸
🩸 Viscerally hate being around trans people.🩸
🩸Were assigned male at birth.🩸
🩸Are a woman.🩸
🩸🩸

The Undertaking
Blood brothers is a ten week long commitment, at $25/session.
This holds a spot for you and the others, with a maximum of eight people to the group.
Along with discussions of trans experience, specifically around themes of reproductive health and menstrual health, Blood Brothers has the capacity to help people find connection in ways I have heard so many people discuss sorely needing right now, while not knowing where to start.
There is also an opportunity to navigate schisms and repairs in a controlled and contained setting, and to practice what support can look like with people you would maybe not know to speak with in other contexts.
How do I join?
Please submit an inquiry to Rowan@UncommonThreadsTherapy [dot] com with the subject line of "Blood Brothers Group Inquiry." In the body of the email please include your name, phone number, the best times at which to reach you, how you learned about the group, why you are interested in joining Blood Brothers, and any other questions or concerns you may be holding before we speak.
Applicants must contact Rowan by April 1, 2025 to be considered for this cohort.
I look forward to speaking with you!
